Families without expiration dates
The Full Story
Without the love and support of a traditional family to fall back on, many teens who age out of foster care find themselves struggling to succeed.

National studies have shown that within two to four years of leaving foster care at age 18:
40% were homeless
40% were receiving public assistance or were incarcerated
40% experienced drug or alcohol abuse
46% had not finished high school
51% were unemployed
84% became parents
Sanctuary First Foundation places a priority on our “aging out” youth and works with other agencies to not only change how these young people are viewed by our local communities, but also endeavors to change the way these youth see themselves. They are not invisible. They are valuable, and capable of amazing things.

As we all know, some of the closest families aren't actually related...
Careful mixing of different populations within SFF homes provides even greater support for our youth throughout their journey into adulthood. Our housing model provides encouragement and stability, while creating a beautiful sense of family among the residents that can last a lifetime.
